Brett Wilson is a Principal Solicitor in the firm and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws. He has practised as a lawyer since his admission in 1992. He is admitted as a solicitor of the Australian High Court, the New South Wales Supreme Court, the Queensland Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland . Brett heads up the team at the Gold Coast.
Brett has worked as a solicitor in top tier international legal practices in both Sydney and Brisbane and practises in the areas of Commercial Litigation, with a specific interest and focus on Workplace Relations and Employment Law. His experience in significant litigation and transactional work for large Australian and international corporations provides him with the experience and knowledge to advise and act for clients in major legal cases and transactions.
Brett regularly provides in house training and seminars for clients, the Queensland Law Society, Gold Coast TAFE and the Australian Human Resources Institute. One of Brett’s aims in legal practice is to work towards making the Gold Coast a centre of business and education in Australia .
Robert Aitken is the other Principal Solicitor of Aitken Wilson Lawyers. His vision is to embrace principles of social responsibility while delivering quality, efficient and cost effective legal services to meet the needs of the firm’s clients. Completing his Bachelor Laws in 1992 (QUT), Master of Laws in 1996 (UQ) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2006 (UNE), Robert has extensive experience as a solicitor in acting for clients whether they are starting out setting up a business, handling commercial or insurance disputes to acting for and providing general counsel for multi-national companies. He is admitted to practise in the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales and the Federal and High Courts of Australia. Robert heads up the team based in Brisbane.
Robert has held positions as director, company secretary, executive manager and General Counsel of multi-national companies including general insurance, life insurance and insurance broking companies and has been the Responsible Officer for a life insurer, a general insurer and a credit union for the purposes of their Australian Financial Services Licence regime. He has also worked as a solicitor in national legal practices in Sydney and Brisbane. By holding these positions, his clients are ensured that the legal advice provided is commercially viable and useful; he understands business and what is required.
